Leading Hand/Pipelaying Assistant

Applications are invited for the position of Leading Hand/ Pipelaying Assistant, based at Council's Inverell Works Centre.  The Leading Hand/ Pipelaying Assistant is responsible for the satisfactory execution of general duties in the Reticulation Construction Unit, for construction and/ or maintenance projects undertaken by the Civil Engineering Branch and would act as relief team leader of that Unit, when required.

Essential Criteria:

Qualifications

  • NSW School Certificate/ Record of School Achievement or equivalent;
  • Satisfactory formal training in pipelaying techniques
    OR
    Suitable experience;
  • NSW Class MR Drivers Licence;
  • Traffic Controller Certificate;
  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card (‘White Card’).

Desirable Criteria:

Qualifications

  • Satisfactory formal training in supervision
    OR
    Satisfactory experience;
  • Implement Traffic Control Plans Certificate;
  • Identify, locate and protect underground services unit of competency;
  • Enter and Work in Confined Spaces competency;
  • Work Safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker unit of competency;
  • National Licence to perform High Risk Work for Dogging (DG).

 

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023.  The classification for the position will be up to Operational Band 1, Level 2, Grade 3.  Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,054.57 to $1,119.38 gross per week.  In addition, a Level 1 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance of $0.513 per hour will be paid where applicable.
