Inverell Shire Council Library is looking for someone like you for the role of Youth Services Officer. The Youth Services Officer covers the development and delivery of Library Services to young people from the Inverell and surrounding communities. The primary focus of the role is developing and delivering fun, engaging early literacy programs aimed at children from 0 to 5 years old, and will also assist in other general library duties day-to-day.
Programming for school age children provides the opportunity to support reading and learning through a range of creative or technology based activities.
The successful candidate for this role will required to work on Saturdays and some evenings on a rotating basis.

Essential:
Qualifications
- Higher School Certificate or equivalent.
- NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
- Formal qualifications relevant to the role at a minimum para-professional level (if qualifications are in a non-Library field, please explain their relevance).
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
- Proven written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to an energetic, imaginative and passionate team.
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised.
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of young people’s literature and reading trends.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver innovative, creative quality Library services to young people.
Desirable:
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in providing literacy-oriented services for young people in a Library or educational environment will be highly regarded.
Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023. The classification for the position is Operational Band 1, Level 3 to Band 2, Level 1, Grades 5 to 8, Columns 1 to 4. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,101.11 to $1,320.01 gross per week.
