Inverell Shire Council is looking for a talented excavator operator to join our Construction Reticulation team. The Medium Excavator Operator is a member of Council's Civil Services team and will involve the use of a medium excavator in a variety of construction and maintenance tasks throughout Inverell Shire!

 

About Inverell Shire Council and the Civil Services team

Under the direction of Council's Manager Civil Engineering, Council's Civil Services team is responsible for a variety of tasks in the support of the Inverell Shire Council's services to the community:

  • Construction and ongoing maintenance of a variety of Council assets including roads, stormwater pipes, bridges, parks and gardens and a variety of other assets!
  • Road maintenance and repair service for Inverell and surrounding communities.
  • Our operators form a part of a larger team, including truck drivers, tradespeople, labourers and contractors with a number of specialities.
  • Provide support to other areas of Council in our day-to-day operations, which can range from emergency and disaster response, event support and more.

Applications are invited for the position of Medium Excavator Operator, based at Council's Inverell Works Centre. The successful applicant shall be responsible for the satisfactory execution of earthmoving by excavator for construction and/ or maintenance programs undertaken by the Civil Engineering Branch.

Applicants should address the following Selection Criteria:

 Essential Criteria:

Qualifications

NSW School Certificate/ Record of School Achievement or acceptable education standard.
Trade Certificate in Plant Operation; OR
• Suitable formal training and satisfactory experience in operating road construction plant;

NSW Class MR Drivers Licence;
• National WHS Certification Standard as required for and/or Statement of Attainment and/or extensive experience operating Excavators;

Traffic Controller Certificate or Traffic Control Work Training Card;
SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card (‘White Card’)

Desirable Criteria:

Qualifications

• Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker accreditation;
• Implement Traffic Control Plans Certificate.

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023.  The classification for the position will be up to Operational Band 1, Level 3, Grade 5.  Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,101.11 to 1,181.35 gross per week.  In addition, a Level 1 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance of $0.513 per hour will be paid where applicable.
