Wastewater Network Assistant

Applications are invited for the position of Wastewater Network Assistant, based at Council's Inverell Works Centre.  The successful applicant shall be an operative responsible for assisting with the carrying out of the maintenance program and repair works associated with the operation of the wastewater distribution systems.

Applicants should address the following Selection Criteria:

 

Essential Criteria:

 

Qualifications 

  • NSW School Certificate/ Record of School Achievement or equivalent;
  • NSW Class C Drivers Licence;
  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card (‘White Card’).


Desirable Criteria:

 

Qualifications 

  • NSW Class MR Drivers Licence, or ability and willingness to obtain one;
  • National Licence to perform High Risk Work for Dogging (DG), or ability and willingness to obtain one;
  • Traffic Controller Certificate, or ability and willingness to obtain one;
  • Confined Spaces Certificate, or ability and willingness to obtain one;
  • Liquefied Chlorine Gas Level 1 Induction training, or ability and willingness to complete;
  • Asbestos Awareness training, or ability and willingness to complete;
  • Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker training, or ability and willingness to complete; and

Skills and Experience 

  • Previous experience in wastewater network maintenance.

 

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2020. The classification for the position will be up to Operational Band 1, Level 2, Grade 2.  Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,029.85 to $1,086.54 gross per week.  In addition, a Level 2 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance of $1.327 per hour will be paid where applicable. As this position is considered to be in a risk category, Council requires that the successful applicant receive vaccinations for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B at Council’s expense.
