About the role

As a member of the water services team, the Fitter - Maintenance Assistant provides or supports the delivery of Council's water infrastructure maintenance program, including:

  • Routine inspections and maintenance of water and wastewater pump stations and wells in the Inverell area.
  • Liaising with operators within the Water Services team regarding maintenance and repairs.
  • Routine maintenance and repairs at Inverell Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater treatment plant.
  • Removal and replacement of fixed plant and equipment at the direction of the Fitter - Maintenance or Water and Sewer Coordinator.
  • Participate in an on-call roster on a rotating basis, and occasionally carry out breakdown repairs while on-call or after hours.

Remuneration shall range from $59,880 to $71,262 gross per annum, inclusive of Adverse Working Conditions allowance and be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Overtime and other allowances are payable where applicable.

The following selection criteria shall be considered as part of your application:

Essential:

  • NSW School Certificate or equivalent.
  • Trade Certificate as Fitter or other related trade, or suitable experience.
  • NSW Class MR Drivers Licence.
  • National Licence to perform High Risk Work for Dogging (DG)
  • Enter and work in confined spaces unit of competency completed in the last two (2) years.
  • Work safely at heights unit of competency completed in the last two (2) years.
  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card ('White Card').

Desirable:

  • SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Traffic Controller (TCR) accreditation.
  • SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Implement Traffic Control Plants (IMP) accreditation.
  • IXOM Liquefied Chlorine Gas Emergency Preparedness accreditation.

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023.  The classification for the position is Administrative/ Technical/ Trades Band 1, Level 3 to Band 1, Level 4, Grades 5 to 8, Columns 1 to 4.  Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,101.11 to $1,320.01 gross per week, plus a Level 2 Adverse Working Conditions allowance of $1.327 per hour.
