Inverell Shire Council is looking for someone like you for the role of Customer Service Officer. The Customer Service Officer is the first point of contact for residents and customers attending Council's Administration Centre, and is responsible for directing enquiries to the appropriate staff at Council, processing payments of various fees and rates to Council, and ensuring that patrons are provided with a high quality customer service.

About the role As a key member of the Financial Services team, Council's Customer Service Officer provides or supports the delivery of a variety of services to the Inverell Community, which includes but is not limited to:
Remuneration shall range from $1,071.04 to $1,130.00 gross per week, and a normal work week shall consist of 35 hours per week. |

The following selection criteria shall be considered as part of your application:
Essential:
-
Proven experience in cash handling, including varied methods of receipting and daily balancing.
-
Demonstrated experience in a Customer Service role, both in a face to face and digital environment and a commitment to the highest level of professionalism.

Experience with various computer applications, including Microsoft office, in particular Excel and the use of EFTPOS devices.

Strong time management and proven ability to manage multiple tasks in fast paced environment and work independently.

NSW Higher School Certificate or equivalent or NSW School Certificate and satisfactory experience.
Desirable:
-
NSW Class C Driver’s Licence.

Appointed as a Justice of the Peace or willingness to obtain within 6 months of commencement with Council.

Demonstrated negotiation and problem solving skills including the ability to deal with a diverse range of customers in an empathetic manner.

Relevant qualification in Customer service or a Finance a related discipline, or willingness to obtain an approved qualification within 12 months of commencement with Council, acceptable to the Director Corporate and Community Services.

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2026. The classification for the position is Band 1, Level 2, Grades 2. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,071.04 to $1,130.00 gross per week, and a normal work week shall consist of 35 hours per week.
