About the Role

We are looking for an energetic natural leader to join our Stevedoring team at the Port of Tauranga. The successful candidate will have previous man management experience in a fast paced productive environment.  

Reporting to the Stevedoring Operations Manager, this role has a strong emphasis on the day to day supervision of the loading and unloading of cargo on vessels arriving at the port and the management of staff and equipment. It is an extremely challenging role with responsibility for a large group of skilled personnel who are engaged to load vessels. It would be best suited to experienced leaders who are not afraid to get their hands dirty and who are willing to lead from the front.

The key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Directing and managing the performance of a dedicated team engaged in the task of loading and unloading a vessel.
  • Ensuring the safety of the team through appropriate communication of standards and procedures, pre-shift safety briefings and on the job guidance
  • Managing cargo flow through the effective use of our unique cargo management systems. Includes data input, bar-code scanning and troubleshooting IT hardware issues
