The new Inner West Council has a population of 185,000 people and employs 1,250 people. The local government area covers an area of 36 sq km from the banks of Parramatta River at Birchgrove in the North East to the Cooks River at Dulwich Hill in the South West.
Inner West Council has developed a new organisational structure which aims to deliver exceptional service quality and operational alignment and efficiency, creating opportunities for talented, versatile, innovative and progressive leaders to drive the future success of the organisation.
The Interim General Manager has provided briefings to staff indicating the need for increased levels of accountability within the organisation and the formation of a collaborative and strong senior leadership team to lead the organisation through an important transformational period.
Following the current recruitment process for 3 Deputy General Managers, Council is now seeking applications for the following 3rd level Group Manager positions.
The position of Group Manager Information Communication Technology / Chief Information Officer (ICT/CIO) will provide leadership to the ICT team and derive strategy across key ICT functions including Applications Software, GIS, Technology Infrastructure and User Support.
The Group Manager ICT/CIO will also be a pivotal member during the implementation of an enterprise wide technology strategy to facilitate the amalgamation of the Inner West Council onto one cohesive platform.

Requirements:
Essential
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and significant senior management experience, with a demonstrated record of achievement in financial, people and project management
- Extensive experience in undertaking innovative service delivery in information and communications technology areas or a similar work environment.
- High level experience in strategic and business planning, and resource management including demonstrated ability to understand and monitor the true cost of services
- Experience in working with managers, staff and stakeholders to resolve high priority, and often sensitive and complex matters
- Proven track record in managing and ensuring probity is achieved in all aspects of employment and service delivery.
- Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to role model core Values and desired behaviours
- Extensive team facilitation and coordination skills including the ability to mentor staff and build a cohesive, responsive team that delivers excellent community focused services and projects in a challenging and high pressure environment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills including:
- Verbal and written communication
- Facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution
- Ability to represent Council at high level meetings/forums and with community groups
- Creative, analytical and advanced decision-making skills
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, manage and implement significant operational, organisational and cultural change in a highly consultative environment.
- Broad policy skills with knowledge and thorough understanding of government structures and inter-governmental relationships and the ability to achieve outcomes using a wide range of strategies
- Sound knowledge and skills in modern management practices including:
- Financial management
- Staff management, coaching and development
- Performance management and development
- Change management
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and quality customer service which results in positive change/s in the workplace and service delivery
