About the Role

As a Parks and Recreation Operator, you'll play a key role in the maintenance and upkeep of Council’s parks, recreational areas, and public amenities. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, values teamwork, and is committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all residents and visitors.


Key Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Parks and Recreation Operator, you will:

  • Operate and maintain plant and equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and Council procedures
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance on Council facilities
  • Clean public amenities including toilets, change rooms, bins, and general litter removal
  • Perform horticultural and physical labouring duties
  • Implement and manage traffic control plans when required
  • Open, close, and secure Council facilities
  • Accurately complete documentation and contribute to team reports
  • Comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and participate in training
  • Support community engagement and environmental initiatives
  • Assist other team members and undertake training as needed

Who We’re Looking For

This role is suited to individuals who have:

  • Proven ability to work safely and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures
  • Valid NSW Driver’s Licence (willingness to obtain MR licence)
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to high-quality outcomes
  • Ability to undertake physical tasks and outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Relevant qualifications and certifications such as Chemical Application and Traffic Control (or willingness to obtain)

  • Full-Time: $1,075.00 – $1,236.60/week + Super
  • Casual: $35.37/hour (includes 25% casual loading)
