We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chef to lead the kitchen operations at Juniper Guwardi Ngadu, located in Fitzroy Crossing, WA. This role is ideal for an Executive Chef, Chef Manager, Sous Chef, or Head Chef. Juniper Guwardi Ngadu provides essential services and care for up to 24 older Aboriginal people in Fitzroy Crossing, 2500 km from Perth in the Kimberley region. The successful candidate must embrace and promote culturally appropriate service delivery. At Juniper, we understand that food is a crucial part of our residents' lives, contributing to their wellbeing and comfort. The purpose of this role is to prepare high-quality, nutritious meals that meet our residents’ special dietary requirements. You will supervise a small team of catering staff, ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures. Additionally, you will maintain the high standard of meal quality and ensure a safe food service.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook high-quality, nourishing meals for our residents.
  • Monitor all practices within the catering centre to ensure safe food handling and adherence to infection control procedures.
  • Ensure all areas of the kitchen are cleaned to the highest standards.
  • Manage stock control, including replenishing and ordering stock as required.
  • Comply with Juniper’s Occupational Safety and Health requirements.
Key Requirements:
  • Certification in commercial cooking
  • Previous experience as an Executive Chef, Chef Manager, Sous Chef, Head Chef
  • Basic understanding of dietary nutrition, especially for the elderly
  • Proficient in bulk ordering, purchasing, and stock control of food supplies.
  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A genuine empathy for elderly residents
