We are currently seeking an experienced Cook to join our team at Juniper Bethshan in Katanning on a permanent part-time basis. This role involves two shifts per fortnight, working Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. There is also the opportunity to cover sick and annual leave when needed.

Your Role:

The primary focus of this role is to prepare and cook high-quality, nutritious meals that meet our residents' dietary requirements. You will also supervise a team of catering staff, ensuring that all meals are prepared to a high standard of quality and safety.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for hospitality who enjoys making a positive impact on the lives of older people. The responsibilities may vary depending on the operational needs of the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and cooking high-quality, nourishing meals for our residents
  • Ensuring adherence to safe food handling and infection control procedures
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment
  • Managing stock control, replenishing, and ordering as needed
  • Complying with Juniper’s Occupational Safety and Health standards
  • Supervising and providing direction to Kitchen Hands

Key Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cook/Chef in large-scale meal production
  • Experience in production environments
  • Basic knowledge of dietary nutrition for elderly residents
  • Ability to manage bulk ordering, purchasing, and stock control
  • Strong budgeting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
