About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Chef to join the friendly and supportive team at our Juniper The Residency Residential Aged Care Facility in Northam.  Juniper the Residency is a 45 bed facility with a homely atmosphere and community feel. 

The purpose of this role is to prepare high quality, nutritious meals that meet dietary requirements. You will be responsible for supervising a small team of catering staff and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. You will also ensure an excellent quality of meals is maintained and that a safe food service is provided. 

This is a permanent full-time position working 75 hours per fortnight. The successful candidate will work 6am-2pm Monday to Friday each week. There is no evening or weekend work required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook food
  • Clean cooking areas and equipment
  • Maintain safe food hygiene practices
  • Manage resources – includes ordering and stock control
  • Manage staff – supervision and delegation as required
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational, Safety and Health requirements
  • Act in accordance with the continuous improvement of the facility, engaging with residents and attendance at facility based resident meetings

Key requirements:

  • Trade certificate / Cert 3 or equivalent qualification – essential
  • Experience in commercial cooking environment and/or aged care catering - essential
  • Current knowledge of Food Safe Plus practices and Hygiene standards, quality system requirements & the principles of relevant aged & resident care legislation
  • Knowledge of dietary nutrition for the aged
  • Demonstrated ability to manage bulk ordering, purchasing, stock control and financial reporting
  • Understanding of infection control
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
