About the role:
We are currently seeking a Community Support Worker to join our friendly and supportive Home and Community Care team in the Wheatbelt area of Western Australia. Wheatbelt towns where we need a Community Support Worker include Northam, York, Toodyay and Goomalling.
Our Juniper Home and Community Care team provides community based care programs that assist our aged customers to continue to live independently in their own homes. Renowned for our commitment to the delivery of person centred care and best practice in relation to the provision of quality care, you will be working in a supportive environment that encourages initiative and leadership.
This position requires the delivery of personal care to our community clients, in addition to providing domestic assistance, transport and social support. Candidates with experience in the delivery of personal care (such as showering, dressing, toileting) to the aged will be viewed favourably. This position is being offered on a permanent part-time basis. Working hours are between 7:30am-4pm Monday to Friday, and up to 6pm in Northam. To be considered for this role you must be available between these hours at least three days each week. There is no weekend work required. Contracted hours and days of work will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal care, including showering, dressing, continence care
- Assist customers with administration of correct medication
- Assist customers with domestic duties, meal preparation and other household tasks to ensure safe and hygienic living conditions in their own homes
- Social Support, including transport to shops or appointments
- Adherence to Client Care Plan
Key Requirements:
- Current Australian driver’s licence and reliable car - essential
- Certificate III Aged Care or Dementia Care Course - desirable
- Current First Aid certification - desirable
- Previous experience working in the Community - desirable
- Understand documentation and relevant aged care legislation
- Understand principles of Occupational, Safety & Health and correct manual handling
- Verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, clients, families and service providers in a manner which is effective and consistent
