BOILERMAKER / WELDER

About the role 

Kings Engineering has an exciting opportunity in its team for an experienced Boilermaker/Welder.

The successful applicants will support the achievement of safety and production targets by providing high quality and timely maintenance services to a wide spectrum of engineering industries including Mining, Tunnelling and Infrastructure, Rail and Manufacturing. The role may involve the operation, maintenance, or repair of tunnelling/ mining equipment, fixed equipment and assets.

This is a full-time permanent position paying a minimum of $42.33 p/h (equivalent to $83,644p.a.), with excellent flexible work options available.

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Examine and provide safe, quality, effective, and efficient fabrication services to customers
  1. Utlise various tools to measure, calculate, modify, cut or shape materials to fit the technical brief
  2. Execute precise blueprints, drawings and specifications to plan and meet required targets with safety as the priority
  3. Provide maintenance and breakdown support on mobile and fixed plant
  4. Provide repair and fabrication maintenance support on underground and open-cut mobile equipment and fixed plant
  5. Demonstrate excellent housekeeping and equipment care
  6. Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
  7. Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
  8. Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
  9. Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
  10. Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
  11. Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding

Essential Criteria

  1. Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices relevant to the mining industry and a commitment to zero harm
  2. Fabrication trade qualifications in addition to extensive experience within a heavy industrial or mining related environment, ideally 3 years plus post trade
  3. Ability to effectively communicate within and between work teams, demonstrating positive interpersonal skills
  4. Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and perform marking, cutting out using oxy and plasma cutter, grinding and gouging
  5. Ability to demonstrate previous experience welding in all positions, using flux cored wire – MIG and Stick experience
  6. High Risk WorkCover tickets required for role include Forklift, Work Platform and Working at Heights
  7. Current valid NSW Driver's Licence

Desirable Criteria 

  1. High Risk WorkCover tickets such as C6 Crane (60T), Dogging, and Basic Rigging
  2. MDG25 Guideline for safe cutting and welding at mines
  3. Relevant Welding Certifications to AS1796
