OVERHAUL WORKSHOP MANAGER

This role is part of the team at Kings Engineering, a member company of The Bloomfield Group, a privately owned group of companies which operate in the mining and engineering sectors.

In 2023, Kings Engineering celebrated 100 years in business.  It provides overhaul, repair and component rebuild, machining and fabrication services to a range of industries including tunnelling and infrastructure, rail, manufacturing and mining.

This pivotal role involves overseeing the operations of our overhaul workshop, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in all maintenance and fabrication projects and works. About the Role

 

  • Coordinate with customers and workshop staff to plan and schedule current and upcoming work
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations of the Overhaul Shop (Overhaul, Electrical, Fabrication and Components Teams) while seeking improvement opportunities
  • Manage the costs of operating the Overhaul Shop, continuously looking for business improvement opportunities
  • Conduct regular inspections of work, maintaining high-quality standards and compliance with requirements
  • Oversee documentation, job management, and the development of work scopes, quotes and reports in line with customer needs
  • Manager procurement and parts inventory to meet both scheduled and unscheduled job demands
  • Provide technical guidance to tradespeople and support for on the job training, toolbox talks and meetings
  • Participate in recruitment activities for apprentices and trades and provide continuous mentoring

About You 

We are looking for a trades qualified (mechanical/electrical preferred) leader with at least 5 years' experience in both maintenance and supervision and leadership of employees. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels and manage multiple projects well at the one time. You will have a strong ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, electrical and mechanical schematics, statutory requirements and maintenance concepts, ideally working with Caterpillar or other OEM equipment.
