We currently have an opportunity for a Community Development Officer (Aboriginal) to join the Community Hubs team. As a Community Development Officer (Aboriginal) you will get to:  

  • To provide strategic support to the Aboriginal community and build capacity; and work with Council to provide a culturally safe space for Aboriginal people to access Council Services.
  • To plan and implement programs, projects and activities in collaboration and consultation with the Aboriginal community groups and leaders to build strong relations between Council and the Aboriginal community.
  • To contribute and participate to the Community Hubs team initiatives

What we offer...

  • Part Time, 21 hours per week 
  • Annual salary from $79,125.80 to $94,144.44 (to be based on pro rata) (salary is dependent on qualifications, skills and experience) 
  • Plus 11.5 % superannuation 

What you'll need to be successful in the role...

  • Minimum diploma in Community Services, Community Development or equivalent, and or lived experience working within Aboriginal communities.
  • Proof of Aboriginality as this is a requirement of this position. Knowledge of the local Traditional Owners and be able to build connection to Country.
  • Demonstrated experience in community development practice and trends. An understanding of local government policies and procedures impacting on community development and services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of local Aboriginal community, culture, need and aspirations.
  • Proven experience in delivering programs and codesigned projects with the local Aboriginal communities.
