Now, we’re looking for a CTO with a startup mindset to lead our technical journey as we scale to new heights.

About the Role

As CTO, you will be a key member of our leadership team, responsible for developing and executing our technology vision. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring you to work closely with small, talented teams (both in-house and offshore) to deliver secure, scalable, and user-friendly solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a forward-thinking technology roadmap aligned with company growth targets.
  • Identify and implement scalable technologies that enhance our competitive edge.
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of our Ruby on Rails, Angular and AWS stack to prioritise tech debt resolution and platform optimisation.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a small, high-performing development team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen collaboration between development, product management, and sales teams to deliver seamless solutions.
  • Address team skill gaps through strategic hiring or upskilling initiatives.

Offshore Development Management

  • Lead and manage offshore teams, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and quality project delivery.

Hands-On Technical Expertise

  • Provide technical guidance on Ruby on Rails, Angular and cloud-based solutions to ensure high performance, scalability, and security.
  • Partner with our cloud infrastructure optimiser to ensure scalable costs and robust infrastructure.

Innovation & Delivery

  • Drive quick wins by delivering impactful feature rollouts and resolving critical customer issues to build credibility.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends to keep Carelever’s platform at the forefront of occupational health technology.

Security, Quality & Compliance

  • Champion the highest standards of data security
  • Ensure our ongoing compliance with ISO 27001 and ISO 9001.

What Success Looks Like

In your first 3–6 months, success will include:

  • Aligning the technology strategy with company growth targets and ensuring platform stability, scalability, and security.
  • Demonstrating measurable progress on the product roadmap with delivery of impactful features.
  • Strengthening collaboration across teams and building trust with stakeholders through technical delivery.
  • Setting and enforcing development guidelines for best practices and coding standards across the team.
  • Laying the foundation for long-term growth and innovation.

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in technology roles, including leadership positions.
  • Strong background in software development, with expertise in Ruby on Rails, Angular and AWS cloud infrastructure and modern development frameworks using.
  • Experience managing and scaling small teams in fast-paced environments, with a hands-on approach when needed.
  • Proven track record of working effectively with offshore developers to deliver projects on time and to specification.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS platforms, from architecture to deployment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
