Position Purpose
The Network and Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of the network and IT infrastructure within LDK. This role ensures that the organisation's systems operate reliably, securely, and efficiently, contributing to the safe and supportive environment needed for both residents and staff. The role includes ensuring high levels of network performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions aligned with the organization's objectives.
The specialist will handle day-to-day operational support while also working on projects to enhance and expand the infrastructure to meet the organisation’s evolving needs as well as other capital works initiatives at our operational villages.
The role is also responsible for asset management (including documentation and preventative maintenance) of ICT Infrastructure at our sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the IT Operations Manager in the delivery of capital works initiatives
- Maintain, monitor, and optimize LAN, WAN, and WLAN networks across all facilities
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement upgrades as required.
- Ensure network scalability and redundancy to meet the growing needs of the organization.
- Engage extensively with MSP and Vendors staff on the design, delivery and maintenance of infrastructure.
- Manage network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, access points and VPNs.
- Manage server environments, including cloud and on-premises solutions (e.g., virtual servers, storage systems, Microsoft azure and databases)
- Collaborate with vendors for hardware upgrades, maintenance, and system integrations.
- Perform routine backups and disaster recovery planning.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with LDK’s infrastructure ecosystem including but not limited to IPTV, AV, VOIP Solutions.
- Engage in system testing and quality assurance
- Research and establish a preventative maintenance and monitoring regime
- Assist the wider ICT department with technical-related issues
- Make representations to the CAB for changes related to core infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations
- Train junior staff and end-users on best practices and efficient use of infrastructure
- Travel to LDK villages as required
- Assist in planning and executing network and infrastructure upgrade projects
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Maintain documentation for infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures

Qualifications & Skills
Education/Certificates
- ITIL Foundation
- CCNA Switching & Routing (desirable)
- CCNA Wireless (desirable)
- CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Azure (advantageous)
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Diploma in IT related studies (desirable)
Professional Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in network and infrastructure management
- Experience with network security, firewalls, VPNs, and server administration
- Experience in Hospitality & Healthcare environments highly regarded
- Prior hands-on experience with the Cisco Meraki Dashboard
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and virtualized environments
Technical Skills
- Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting network equipment (Cisco Stack: Meraki, Catalyst, Wireless & CCTV)
- Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, VPN), routing, switching, and wireless technologies
- Understanding of IPTV/AV/VC/BMS & Access Control systems in an IP based environment
- Ability to deploy bespoke systems (i.e. Point-of-Sale & Nurse Call hardware)
- Sound knowledge of VM and Hypervisors, Linux servers
- Proficiency in managing the cloud infrastructure
- Experience with disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and security best practices
Soft Skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Technical aptitude (computer literate, able to quickly learn new systems)
- Able to create and manage training material for staff
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in a team and provide support across multiple locations
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

- Requires minimal direction to complete tasks

Essential Conditions
Federal Police Clearance must be attained, and a declaration made of any future charges or convictions that could potentially affect your role within LDK.

The successful candidate will be required to maintain a private motor vehicle, as this role will support operations across all LDK sites in Canberra, with limited interstate travel also expected.
