The Asia Pacific region currently includes Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Singapore, with approximately 1900 employees.

We have an opportunity for a HR Manager, NZ.  This role will ideally be based in Whakatu, Hawke’s Bay, but we encourage applicants from Christchurch, Nelson and Tauranga.  The role reports to the Head of HR, Business Partnering, Australia, based in Melbourne, Australia.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Be the HR Business Partner to the Regional Vice President and NZ Leaders to support them with the people life cycle
  • Support Leaders to be accountable and own the employee relationship to instill a constructive leadership style
  • Support Leaders to establish resource needs including the development of position descriptions
  • Support Leaders with leadership and talent activities including talent development reviews, performance reviews etc.
  • Coach and support Leaders in how to best lead, inspire and engage their teams daily along with driving key change initiatives
  • Provide advice, support and coaching on performance, employee relations and complex workplace investigations
  • Support Leaders to work through, resolve and document people issues
  • Support Leaders with workforce planning and change management
  • Advise Leaders on Collective Agreement interpretation and participate in negotiation strategy development
  • Support Leaders with remuneration and benefits activities
  • Engage with Leaders on employee engagement initiatives including surveys, action planning, continuous improvement activities
  • Work closely with the Centre of Excellence team and Field HR team to provide a consistent HR experience to stakeholders and the workforce

To be successful, ideally you will have:

  • Degree qualified in HR, Business or Commerce or relevant experience
  • 10 years plus experience as a Generalist HR practitioner
  • Strong employee relations knowledge and experience including effective performance management, conflict and dispute resolution
  • Industrial relations knowledge
  • Experience in resourcing and recruitment including liaising with external recruitment agencies
  • Experience in managing the employee life cycle including onboarding, movements and separations
  • Experience in restructures and change management
  • Experience with HRIS (Workday is advantageous)
  • Knowledge of payroll processes
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
  • Ability to build strong effective relationships with business Leaders
