People and Culture Business Partner - Retail

Job No: LUSH838
Location: Villawood, Sydney

Diversity matters

We are building a brand that represents the people of the world. It’s what you do that counts, and we are always looking to expand perspectives and voices to shape our future.

We see you, we celebrate you, we want you!

Who we are

You might know us as the inventors of the bath bomb, but there’s more to this great-smelling, partly employee-owned, family-run company than pioneering cosmetics. We believe our business should put more back into the world than it takes. We put our people first and fight cruel practices like animal testing, promote regeneration, and show that it is what’s inside that counts - whether that’s an ingredient in a product, or the minerals in a smartphone.

Since 1997, LUSH Australia & Aotearoa (New Zealand) has been delighting our customers with our unique products and award winning customer experience. We have 33 shops across both markets, and products made right here, in our very own Sydney factory. Now is the time to pioneer people practices and re-invigorate the retail landscape. There’s never been a better time to join us.

The role

We are looking for a People & Culture Business Partner to work in the Retail arm of our business and take the lead in shaping the strategy and direction of the business’ people culture. Reporting to our General Manager of Retail, this role is responsible for managing a team of HR professionals including but not limited to Safety, Recruitment, L&D and Generalist. The role ensures that LUSH continues to build and sustain a culture of continuous improvement in people development and support practices. In this role you will develop and implement the people management strategy and provide guidance and support for the Retail business in the region, covering both Australia and New Zealand.

 What you’ll do

  • Partner with people managers to coach and consult on all things people and team related including but not limited to recruitment, employee and industrial relations and succession planning.
  • Build productive relationships with people leaders to understand their strategic business objectives, challenges and opportunities for growth.
  • Provide accurate advice on HR and ER/IR matters, including awards, legislation, policy, and procedures.
  • Lead and oversee the day to day operations of the Retail People & Culture team to optimise performance and increase productivity.

Your background

  • You'll have a well-rounded generalist skill set. You'll have experience in culture and engagement, organisational design and leadership and capability development.
  • You will bring expertise in industrial and employee relations. You will be comfortable taking part in leading the negotiating of enterprise agreements.
  • You're a collaborator and can influence. You will be able to influence, and coach leaders and have experience developing and leading organisational change initiatives.
  • You're adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity. You'll be able to manage competing priorities and pivot based on the organisation's changing needs.
  • You're a creative problem-solver. You are curious about people and organisational issues that help you drive creative solutions.

Why you should work with us

That’s a lot of information about you, so what can we bring to the table? At LUSH you’ll find a supportive team where your input and opinion is valued. We have a progressive work environment that celebrates diversity and we are always trying to make a difference in the world - that feels pretty special.

People are at the heart of our business. We want you to enjoy and challenge yourself, build a career, and teach us what we don’t know, so we’ve created a culture where your job description is a starting point, not an end goal. Our working style is flexible, fluid, supportive, and authentic - if you’ve got the drive to push yourself and try different things, you will have our support.

Of course we smell amazing, and you’ll get a generous discount on LUSH products to keep you smelling and feeling fresh as well as a welcome pack of LUSH products and eco-friendly goodies.

When it comes to benefits we have a company-sponsored Employee Assistance Program with free access to psychological, financial, legal and dietary advice; paid birthday leave; and individual training and development plans.
