The role of the Pastoral Leader – Middle School (Years 7-9) is to support the Assistant Head of College - Students in the leadership of the Pastoral Care Team, and to ensure that the student pastoral care practices and procedures are maintained. As a team member of the Pastoral Leadership Team, this position has the joint responsibility for the leadership of all things proactive and reactive to enable the wellbeing of each student. The Pastoral Leader position overall leads and instructs the Heads of House in the care of students.
Following the promotion of the incumbent, the College invites applications for the position of Pastoral Leader – Middle School (Tier 4) commencing with us in 2026.
The ideal applicants will have the following:
Role Specific
- Tertiary level graduate qualification in Education (essential) and post-graduate (desirable).
- Meet all compliance requirements as an educator in Queensland.
- A current National Police check.
Management and Leadership
- Ability to lead, manage and develop cohesive staff teams.
- Vision and success in the development and management of operational aspects of a 5 – 12 College.
- Strong sense of self-awareness and the ability to use it to lead by example.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Proven track record of working collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to model optimism and a growth mindset.
- Driven by a genuine service ethos and able to inspire the same in others.
- Supportive of Marist College’s ethos and a willingness to embrace the total life of the College.
Essential Selection Criteria
The criteria below will be used by the selection panel to evaluate applicants.
The applicant will respond to the following in no more than 200 words per paragraph:
- Describe your understanding of the Marist ethos and how you would support and model this as a College leader.
- Demonstrated capacity as an educational leader in your chosen field. based on a shared strategic vision.
- Proven experience in both undertaking and leading staff through the operational/administrative/legislative aspects required within your leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability in the support of families and the development of student’s wellbeing through regular monitoring, communication and programs as relevant.
- Experience in or the ability to develop and co-ordinate proactive wellbeing initiatives aimed at Years 7 - 9.
