Assistant Head of College – Primary
Marist College Ashgrove is a Catholic day and boarding school for boys in Years 5-12, situated in Brisbane's inner Northern suburbs. Inspired by the work of St Marcellin Champagnat, we pride ourselves on delivering excellent academic and career pathway results for our inclusive community of students.
The College is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Head of College – Primary, commencing in 2026.
The Assistant Head of College - Primary is a member of the College Leadership Team, with delegated responsibility for the educational, physical, spiritual and pastoral care of Year 5 and 6 students.
Reporting to the Head of College and Deputy Head of College, the Assistant Head of College - Primary is responsible for the efficient and effective operational management of the Primary School. The role works in close collaboration with the Curriculum Team, Business Manager and Human Resources leaders to contribute to the strategic and day-to-day management of the College's Primary School.
Remuneration is as per the Senior Leadership Scale of the Catholic Employing Authority Single Enterprise Bargaining Agreement Religious Institute Schools of Qld 2023 – 2026. The successful applicant will be appointed for a period of five (5) years, renewable for a further five (5) years on the completion of a successful performance review.
The ideal applicant will have the following:
Role Specific
- Tertiary level graduate qualification in Education (essential) and post-graduate qualifications at Masters level;
- Meet all compliance requirements as an educator in Queensland
- A current National Police check
Management and Leadership
- Ability to lead the faith development of all students
- Skills to lead, manage and develop cohesive staff teams
- Vision and success in the development and management of operational aspects of a 5 - 12 College
- Strong sense of self-awareness and the ability to use it to lead by example.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Proven track record of working collaboratively within a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to model optimism and a growth mindset
- Driven by a genuine service ethos and able to inspire the same in others
- Supportive of Marist College’s ethos and a willingness to embrace the total life of the College.
Essential Selection Criteria
The criteria below will be used by the selection panel to evaluate applicants.
The applicant will respond to the following in no more than 300 words per paragraph:
- Demonstrated personal commitment to the Catholic Church and/or membership of a Sunday Catholic worshipping community, including any relevant associated professional learning completed, and how you would support and model this as a College leader.
Demonstrated experience and achievement in leading the learning and teaching aspect of school life. - Proven experience in both undertaking and leading staff through the operational/administrative/legislative aspects required within your leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability in the support and development of staff through regular monitoring, professional learning and enactment of effective employee relations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain processes to monitor and manage personnel, physical and financial resources to effectively deliver the priorities of the school.
