The role & you

MidCoast Council's Community Spaces department manage over 3000 hectares of parks and open spaces, 26 sporting complexes, 84 playgrounds, 32 cemeteries and 560 Council buildings (including amenities, halls, administration buildings). Within this department our Trades team is responsible for providing efficient, cost-effective electrical maintenance (planned or unplanned) on assets associated with this department.  

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of the role include:

  • Attending electrical maintenance on a diverse range of electrical assets at our sports field, libraries, parks, public halls and buildings, offices, depots and workshops
  • Provide advice in new electrical and sustainable technologies
  • Work within a team environment across a range of trades to ensure Council assets are in "fit for purpose" condition
  • Responding to emergency repairs may be required outside of normal working hours; and to be available for "call-back" service

Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role you’ll be required to complete a pre-employment medical check to ensure you can complete the essential requirements of the role. 

What you'll bring

  • Electrical Trade with either a Contractor Licence or a Qualified Supervisors Certificate (Electrician) 
  • Demonstrated Trades experience 
  • Hold or willing to obtain the following:
    • A General Induction Construction Card (white card)
    • Current First Aid Certificate
    • Confined Spaces Statement of Competency
    • Working at Heights Competency
  • A can-do attitude with a flair for problem solving

The package: Commencing salary package circa $61,800 - $ 68,000 p.a. plus superannuation. 

Location: Upon commencement your normal place of work will be the MidCoast Council Depot located on Arkwright Crescent, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time 38 hours per week
