The role & you

We currently have exciting opportunities for two Laboratory Technicians to join our Water Management and Treatment department based at Bootawa Water Treatment Plant. Key duties include sampling of drinking and environmental waters, microbiological and chemical analysis, laboratory and administration functions and maintenance and calibration of equipment. 

This varied role will see you work both in the field collecting samples and in our laboratory, to analyse samples, record data and complete the required documentation. To be successful, this role requires individuals with strong attention to detail and accuracy when recording information. Therefore, you will be someone who takes pride and care in your approach to tasks, always giving your best effort. What you'll bring

  • Cert IV in Laboratory Techniques or degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry or relevant experience in a Laboratory setting 
  • The ability to work independently carrying out water sampling and testing to meet customer expectations, regulatory and operational requirements
  • Understanding of chemical or microbiological analysis of samples from a variety of environments
  • Experience in operating simple or complex scientific instrumentation in laboratory and field environments
  • Understanding of NATA accreditation requirements 
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence

Salary: Base salary $66,700 p.a. plus superannuation (commencing salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on qualifications, skills and experience)

  • Superannuation (11%)

Location: This position will be based at our Bootawa Water Treatment Plant located on Bootawa Dam Road. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.   

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
