The role 

Our Apprenticeship program has been our continued success story.  We have an impressive array of mobile and fixed plant equipment for you to work on, and you’ll be trained by expert Tradesmen to become the best in your field. You will also have the chance to join those Apprentices whose careers have thrived with us for the long term.

You’ll gain practical skills such as undertaking general maintenance and repairs on a wide range of plant and equipment, you’ll learn to diagnose and repair mechanical problems using diagnostic equipment, and you’ll have the opportunity to attain an Automotive - Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology Certificate (4 years).

The role requires that you: 

  • Have a genuine interest and aptitude for working in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
  • Have a clear motivation and drive to develop your career in this field
  • Can demonstrate diligence in your past studying and/or work history

Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role you’ll be required to complete a pre-employment basic skills assessment and medical check (medical assessment will include a drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, functional and medical component).

Commencement: Successful Trainees and Apprentices will commence on Tuesday, 28 January 2025.  

Remuneration: You will be paid in accordance with the Traineeship pay scale as outlined in the Local Government (State) Award 2023 plus superannuation. 

Location: Upon commencement your normal place of work will be the MidCoast Council Depot located at 36 Arkwright Crescent Taree. You will also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.  

Tenure:

  • Fixed term 4 years
  • Full-time 38 hours per week with a fortnightly rostered day off
