Apprenticeship – Certificate III in Sports Turf Management 

The Apprentice Sports Turf Management is a 3-year role where you’ll get hands-on experience while studying a Certificate III in this field. You’ll help keep our sports fields, parks, reserves, cemeteries, and other community spaces looking great and safe for everyone to enjoy.

In this role, you’ll use and look after equipment like mowers and garden tools, help maintain turf, trees, shrubs, and flower beds, and work alongside experienced staff to learn practical turf and horticulture skills.

We’re looking for someone who is interested in sports turf management, enjoys working outdoors, and shows commitment through school, study, or past work.

Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role you’ll be required to complete a pre-employment basic skills assessment and medical check (medical assessment will include a drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, functional and medical component). 

Commencement: Tuesday 27 January 2026.  

Remuneration: The salary for this traineeship ranges from approximately $31,288 to $53,196 p.a. in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award. Your salary will be determined based on your age, qualifications, and any previous work experience. Superannuation (12%) is additional.

Location: Upon commencement your normal place of work will be the MidCoast Council Depot located at Grey Gum Road, Tuncurry. You will also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region. 

Tenure:

  • Fixed term 3-years
  • 38 hours per week with a fortnightly rostered day off

Closing date: Monday 6 October 2025 at 11.30 pm.
