The role & you

In this key support role, you’ll be the backbone of our Water Operations team — providing high-quality administrative and operational assistance that keeps everything running smoothly.

You’ll manage a wide range of tasks including preparing correspondence, reports and minutes, handling enquiries, maintaining records, and supporting staff in the use of Council systems and applications. You’ll help coordinate work orders, maintenance schedules and defect records, and provide essential back-up support to our Water Operations Schedulers when needed.

Your strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively will ensure our depots and offices operate efficiently. You’ll also play an active role in fostering collaboration across teams, maintaining office systems and equipment, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver professional administrative support to the Water Operations department, including:

    • Preparing correspondence, reports, minutes and documentation within required timeframes.

    • Managing telephone and email enquiries and relaying accurate information to relevant staff.

    • Supporting staff in the use of Council systems, applications and processes.

    • Managing filing, scanning, and data entry tasks.

    • Creating and maintaining user guides, training materials and procedural documents.

    • Assisting with generation and validation of work orders, maintenance schedules and defect records.

    • Supporting purchasing, work order management and other MC1 system functions.

Essential Requirements: 
  1. Certificate III or above in Business Administration / Customer Engagement, or demonstrated experience in a similar role.

  2. Demonstrated experience in a business support or administrative capacity, including experience and knowledge of meeting procedures and minute taking.

  3. High level of digital literacy, typing and data entry skills.

  4. High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Tenure: Permanent, Full-time 35 hours per week

Salary: Commencing salary circa $62,700 plus superannuation.

Location:  This position will be based at our Taree Water Services Depot, located on Muldoon Street. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
