About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated and skilled Process Operator to join our Water Management and Treatment team at Bootawa within the Infrastructure & Engineering Services Division.
This role plays a vital part in ensuring MidCoast Council continues to provide safe, reliable, and high-quality water and sewer services to our community.
As a Process Operator, you’ll be responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of our water and sewer systems, treatment plants, and related infrastructure. You’ll work both independently and as part of a dedicated team to ensure our systems perform efficiently and meet all regulatory and service standards.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:

A sound understanding of water treatment and distribution processes.

Practical experience in operating water and/or sewer systems.

Strong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

A commitment to safety, compliance, and delivering quality service to the community.
Key Responsibilities include:

Operate water treatment and distribution facilities in line with Council procedures to meet required water quality and quantity standards.

Conduct routine plant inspections, operational monitoring, and water quality testing.

Accurately record and report operational data, including water quality characteristics, logs, readings, and meter data.

Maintain and manage chemical supplies, including ordering, receiving, and safe handling.

Assist with both planned and reactive maintenance of water and sewer assets.

Undertake water quality sampling, interpret results, and take corrective action where required.

Monitor SCADA systems, respond to alarms and irregularities, and troubleshoot as necessary.

Support the operation and maintenance of process plants, pumping stations, and network infrastructure.

Contribute to asset renewals, alterations, and upgrades as required.

Provide relief coverage for other Process Operators within WMAT as needed.

Salary: Base salary $65,918 p.a. (commencing salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on qualifications, skills and experience)
An allowance of $133.61 per week will also apply. (water allowance)
Location: Upon commencement your normal place of work will be the Bootawa Water Treatment Plant at 299 Bootawa Dam Road. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
