The role
Are you passionate about workplace safety and supporting others to work safely every day?
We’re looking for a motivated Health and Safety Officer to join our Organisational Strategy and People team.
In this role, you’ll provide practical support, advice, and system expertise to help embed safe work practices across all areas of Council. You’ll assist with workplace inspections, system administration (including the new DoneSafe platform), WHS reporting, and the coordination of training and awareness activities.
This position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in creating a positive safety culture.
Key focus areas:

Supporting the day-to-day delivery of WHS systems and processes

Coordinating training and maintaining WHS records and registers

Assisting with incident, hazard and risk reporting

Promoting safety awareness and positive reporting culture across Council
Essential requirements:

Qualifications and/or experience in WHS or a related field

Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and safe work practices

Strong administration and system skills (WHS management systems experience preferred)

Current Class C Driver’s Licence and NSW White Card
Salary: This position is a Grade 7 position within our Salary System.
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
