The role

As a Plumbing & Infrastructure Inspector, you will carry out statutory inspections, provide expert technical guidance, and support the delivery of high-quality infrastructure across the MidCoast region. You’ll work closely with contractors, consultants, developers and internal teams to ensure all plumbing and infrastructure works are safe, compliant and built to last.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake delegated regulatory functions under the NSW Plumbing & Drainage Act 2011, including inspections of plumbing and drainage works for compliance with the Plumbing Code of Australia and relevant standards.
• Inspect developer-provided water supply and sewerage assets to ensure they meet Council and industry requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to contractors, consultants and internal teams to promote compliant, high-quality infrastructure outcomes.
• Review and advise on hydraulic and infrastructure designs for suitability and compliance.
• Develop and maintain strong professional networks to stay updated on industry trends, standards and regulatory changes.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of Council’s development-related standards, procedures and policies.
• Prepare clear and accurate documentation, reports and correspondence relating to plumbing, drainage and infrastructure matters.

What you'll bring

• Strong knowledge of plumbing, drainage, water and sewerage infrastructure standards.
• Experience conducting regulatory inspections within the plumbing or water services sector.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide clear technical guidance.
• A commitment to safety, compliance and delivering quality outcomes for the community.
• The ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.

Relevant qualifications, accreditations and experience in plumbing, hydraulic services, water services or a related discipline will be highly regarded.

Salary: Commencing salary circa $74,750 p.a. plus superannuation. (Include range dependent on skills and experience - will be advised by hiring manager). 

A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Full Time - Fixed-Term (2 year contract)
