MidCoast Council is on the lookout for an experienced Panels Officer to join our Procurement team.

If you’ve got hands-on experience with category management, pre‑qualified supplier panels, and contract management, this is your chance to put it to good use! You’ll work closely with stakeholders to deliver compliant, efficient, and value-for-money procurement outcomes.

The role

The Panels Officer supports the development, implementation and ongoing use of standard procurement and contract management methodologies across MidCoast Council, with a specialised focus on category management and pre‑qualified procurement panels.

The role builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate visibility and involvement in procurement and contract activities, and provides subject matter expert advice on the establishment, management and use of supplier panels to achieve optimal value-for-money outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing advice and support for procurement and contract management activities across the organisation, with a focus on establishing and managing pre‑qualified supplier panels.
  • Understanding of procurement legislation, governance and best‑practice sourcing processes and providing associated advice
  • Leading RFx activities where appropriate, including higher‑value and/or more complex procurements.
  • Building and maintaining strong stakeholder networks through providing practical advice and developing effective working relationships.
  • Using procurement software and systems for planning, sourcing and managing procurement activities including contract management, directly and through supporting and training end users.
  • Providing clear communication and organisational skills to effectively manage competing priorities for the Procurement team and the wider business

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in procurement, supply chain management, business, commerce, law or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a local government or public sector environment, or the ability to quickly adapt to a regulated setting.
  • Familiarity with e‑procurement, sourcing platforms and contract management systems.  Having VendorPanel experience would be highly desirable.
  • A strong commitment to integrity, accountability and ethical procurement practices.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering value for the organisation and the community.
  • A collaborative approach and confidence working with a range of stakeholders including senior management.
