The role
Reporting to the Manager Water Project Delivery, the Minor Works Coordinator – Water will lead a skilled team responsible for delivering Council’s Capital Works Asset Renewal programs for Water and Sewer assets. You will manage the program of works, ensuring all projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget, while coaching and developing your team to achieve excellence.
Your responsibilities will include:

Leading and supervising the Minor Works team, including staff recruitment, performance management, and mentoring.

Coordinating the planning, design, and delivery of minor water and sewer projects.

Managing budgets, resources, and project schedules to ensure program outcomes align with organisational objectives.

Overseeing consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure constructible, maintainable, and operable water infrastructure.

Ensuring compliance with Council frameworks, legislation, and engineering standards.

Driving process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives across the program.
What you'll bring
-
Degree-level qualification in engineering or substantial experience in water and sewer infrastructure design and construction.

Project management qualifications or extensive experience delivering water and sewer infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of legislative, regulatory, and professional requirements including engineering standards and environmental legislation.

Proven experience leading teams, coaching staff, and influencing stakeholders to achieve project and organisational goals.

Demonstrated program management experience, including managing minor projects, budgets, and contracts.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
-
Current Class C Driver’s Licence.

Salary: Commencing salary to be negotiated with successful candidate based on skills and experience within salary system range circa $119,620 - $143,500 p.a. plus superannuation.
A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.
A civil liability allowance of 3.5% applies to this position.
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
