The role

We’re looking for a creative Communications Content Officer join our team and shape how our community understands council services, projects and initiatives.

This is a creative and varied role, combining visual content production and clear, engaging copywriting. You'll have the chance to capture content out in the community and develop communications material behind the scenes. You’ll create video, photography and written content across social media, communication campaigns, and explainer pieces that help the community understand what’s happening at Council, and why.

What you'll be doing

  • Producing end-to-end visual content, including filming, editing and photography
  • Creating short-form and longer-form content for social media, web and campaigns
  • Writing clear, concise copy to support visual content, including video scripts, captions, headlines and short explanatory text
  • Capturing content on location at events, facilities and project sites
  • Contributing to visual storytelling through imagery, video and supporting copy
  • Ensuring content meets brand, accessibility and quality standards
  • Supporting priority communications when required

We are seeking an experienced communications professional with a strong portfolio of video and visual work, alongside the ability to write clear, engaging copy for diverse audiences. You will thrive in a team setting and be skilled at managing your time to deliver meaningful and informative content to our region's diverse audiences. Salary: Commencing salary $85,964 p.a. plus superannuation (negotiable based on skills and experience). 

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.

Closing date: Sunday 1 March 2026 at 11.30 pm.
