The role & you
We are seeking an experienced Development Planner to join our Development Assessment and Building Certification team.
This role will suit a confident planner who enjoys managing a diverse portfolio of development applications. You will bring sound knowledge of environmental and planning legislation, a strong commitment to customer service, and the ability to collaborate and negotiate effectively to support sustainable development outcomes across a broad range of stakeholders.
The successful candidate will hold a degree in urban planning or a related discipline, with experience in development assessment and a solid understanding of planning legislation. Strong communication skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and an interest in staying current with planning reforms are essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess development applications to ensure they meet planning legislation and Council policies.
- Provide clear, professional planning advice to applicants, the community, and stakeholders.
- Maintain strong technical knowledge and keep up to date with planning requirements and legislation.
- Undertake Duty Planner responsibilities as agreed with management.

Salary: Commencing salary circa $94,500p.a. - $104,000 p.a. plus superannuation.
A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
