Training and Development Officer

We’re looking for a motivated Training and Development Officer to join our Organisational Strategy and People team and help deliver practical and engaging training and development programs across Council.

The role

This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety, supporting a wide range of training and development activities. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Council, as well as external partners, to make sure our training programs run smoothly and add real value. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys collaboration and wants to make a genuine difference to workforce capability and development.

You’ll coordinate and deliver Council’s new employee induction and orientation program, keeping content up to date and relevant. The role also supports Council’s Enterprise Based Training Strategy, including work experience and tertiary education assistance programs, and coordinates our e-learning programs. You’ll help plan and organise training aligned to Council’s annual Training Plan and manage the day-to-day training administration, including bookings, communications, attendance tracking, evaluations and training materials.

About you

You’re organised, approachable and enjoy working with people. You’re comfortable juggling multiple priorities and take pride in delivering well-run training programs that support learning and development outcomes.

You’ll bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Training and Development or Business Administration

  • Experience working in a HR or training environment

  • Experience coordinating training programs and reviewing learning outcomes

  • Confidence using e-learning platforms, LMS systems and Microsoft Office

  • Strong people skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Great organisational skills and strong attention to detail

Salary: Circa $71,000 - $78,000 p.a. plus superannuation. 

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
