Join our Environmental Health & Regulatory Services team in a dynamic, hands-on role where no two days are the same. From inspecting food premises to investigating environmental concerns, you’ll gain valuable experience while contributing directly to the health, safety, and wellbeing of the community.

What You'll Be Doing 

In this role, you’ll:

  • Conduct inspections across a variety of premises, think restaurants, hair salons, swimming pools, caravan parks, and more!
  • Support the assessment of development applications and other compliance matters.
  • Investigate community requests about air quality, noise, water pollution, and other environmental health issues.
  • Take part in public health education programs that make a difference in people’s lives.
  • Collect evidence, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist in building a client-focused, outcome-driven culture within our Environmental Health Team.

What We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate:

  • Has completed, or is close to completing, a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Has strong research and analytical skills to tackle real-world environmental health challenges.
  • Can build great relationships with colleagues, clients, and the community.
  • Is organised, proactive, and can manage their time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Communicates clearly and confidently, both in writing and verbally.
  • Enjoys working as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
  • Holds a current Driver’s Licence.

Salary: Commencing salary circa $71,192 p.a. plus superannuation. Salary progression opportunities are available throughout the graduate program as you develop your skills and experience. 

A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.   

Tenure: Full time, Fixed term 3 year contract.
