Major Works Coordinator - Water

Job No: MCC6602644
Location: Taree

MidCoast Council is seeking a highly experienced project delivery professional to lead major water and sewer infrastructure projects across our region.

This role is well suited to an experienced Project Manager, including those working across contractor or consultancy environments, who is looking to step into a broader delivery leadership role with increased ownership, influence and long-term impact.

The role

Reporting to the Manager Water Project Delivery, you will take ownership of a portfolio of high-value, complex water and sewer capital works projects.

This is a hands-on delivery leadership role, focused on driving project outcomes, managing commercial risk, and overseeing contractors, not a coordination or administrative position.

While you will lead a small team, this role is fundamentally about your ability to lead projects, not just people.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading end-to-end delivery of major water and sewer infrastructure projects
  • Managing projects through design, procurement, contract administration and construction
  • Acting as Superintendent or Superintendent’s Representative
  • Managing Tier 1 / Tier 2 contractors, consultants and key stakeholders
  • Driving performance across cost, time, quality and risk
  • Leading commercial aspects including variations, claims and contract negotiations
  • Ensuring projects are practical, constructible and delivered to a high standard

What you'll bring

  • Have operated at a senior project management level over a sustained period
  • Bring experience delivering large, complex infrastructure projects (ideally water/sewer)
  • Have worked within a contractor or consultancy environment on major capital works
  • Are confident managing high-value contracts, including variations and commercial risk
  • Are looking to apply their experience in a role focused on end-to-end project delivery

This role is focused on leading the delivery of complex capital projects. Candidates whose experience has been primarily in operations, maintenance, or site supervision, or those with exposure limited to smaller-scale projects, may find the scope of this role differs from their background.

This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.
