The role
This is your chance to build a career in the Civil Construction industry.
You’ll spend your days learning hands-on skills from helping with site preparation, using tools and machinery, laying foundations, and supporting the team working on major roadways.
Along the way, you’ll gain practical experience, earn a nationally recognised qualification in Certificate II Civil Construction setting yourself up for a long-term career in the industry.
No prior experience needed, just a good attitude, reliability, and the willingness to learn on the job.
Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role you’ll be required to complete a pre-employment basic skills assessment and medical check (medical assessment will include a drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, functional and medical component)
*Successful candidates will commence employment on Tuesday, 27 January 2026.
Salary: The salary for this traineeship ranges from approximately $31,288 to $53,196 p.a. in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award. Your salary will be determined based on your age, qualifications, and any previous work experience. Superannuation (12%) is additional.
Location: Upon commencement your normal place of work will be one of our MidCoast Council Depots:
- Tuncurry Depot located on Grey Gum Road, Tuncurry 2428
- Stroud Depot located on Briton Court Road, Stroud 2425
- Bulahdelah Depot located on Blanch Street, Bulahdelah 2423
Tenure: Full-time 38 hours per week over a 12-month period
*Successful candidates will have the opportunity to continue their employment and roll-over into a Certificate III in Civil Construction after the 12-month period (subject to performance, commitment, and completion of study requirements)
