The role & you

As our Electrical Technician, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our water and sewer systems running reliably and efficiently. Your work will span both planned and responsive electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and system improvements.

In this role, you will:

  • Specialise in electrical switchboards, motors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs)

  • Support the Water Management and Treatment (WMAT) and Water Operations (WOP) teams

  • Identify and remove limitations or deterioration that affect system performance

  • Maintain and update data within the planned maintenance system, including schedules, procedures, work history, and parts usage

  • Provide training and guidance to staff on the operation and maintenance of electrical assets

  • Assist with installations and equipment upgrades

  • Support and maintain Telemetry, SCADA, and instrumentation systems

All within a team culture that prioritises safety, initiative, and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you’ll hold an Electrical Trade Certificate along with a Contractor Licence and/or Qualified Supervisors Certificate (Electrician). You’ll bring proven experience as an electrician, ideally within the water industry or a related process driven environment. Your technical expertise will include a solid understanding of instrumentation and switchboards, large motors, variable speed drives (VSDs), high voltage systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, radio telemetry, and condition based monitoring. We're looking for a technically skilled professional who is safety focused, solutions oriented, and thrives in a collaborative team setting. 

Salary: Commencing salary circa $74,700 p.a. - 82,200 p.a. plus superannuation.  

Vehicle: A to and from use vehicle (for work purposes only). 

Tenure: Full Time, Permanent

Location: This position will be based at our Taree Water Services Depot, Muldoon Street. However, the role will cover our southern area, including Bulahdelah, Hawks Nest, Tea Gardens, and Stroud.
