The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced leader to manage the newly created City Economy and Place team whilst permanent recruitment of this position occurs. The position of Manager City Economy and Place will work closely with the Director City Futures to guide this team through organisational change.

This interim Manager role will lead the economic development and tourism team and lead the engagement and Council response on key transformational projects such as the Melton Hospital.

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to build, foster and maintain positive working relationships including the capacity to resolve and negotiate conflicts in a timely manner with all stakeholders.

We are seeking candidates with the energy and passion to deliver quality outcomes for Council and our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high performing team by developing vision and purpose for key activity streams, aligned to the Council and Wellbeing Plan, engaging and communicating effectively, and leading a culture of integrity and accountability.
  • Lead by example a culture of customer focused service delivery within the team and broader organisation.
  • Actively contribute to the strategic leadership of the City Futures Directorate and broader workplace as part of the organisation’s Senior Leadership Team.
  • Engage and build strategic networks and partnerships with key stakeholders internally and throughout the industry to drive collaboration.
  • Lead the delivery of a place-based economic approach that seeks to deliver vibrant local precincts that provide opportunities for a strong economic development experience.
