The Opportunity
Melton City Council seeks a full time Coordinator to coordinate the Building Services Unit.
You will provide functional and strategic leadership and mentorship to staff, fostering continuous improvement, while coordinating and optimizing Building Services to achieve positive outcomes for customers and the community, and monitoring performance against key indicators. This role reports directly to the Manager Community Safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the duties and functions of the Municipal Building Surveyor are carried out in accordance with the Building Act and Building Regulations.
- Ensure Council’s statutory building obligations are met.
- Coordinate delivery of Building Services to provide a positive outcome for all customers and community members.
- Review all new legislation relevant to the Building Services Unit function and keep up to date with these changes.
- Lead, coach, supervise and mentor staff to create an environment that fosters Council’s values, including continuous improvement.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Degree and extensive experience in a relevant field. Alternatively, demonstrate exceptional professional capabilities through a combination of lesser formal qualifications.
- Registered Building Surveyor (Unlimited) and Building Inspector with the Victorian Building Authority.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in team building, coaching and mentoring staff.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
