The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual within the City Growth and Development department.
This role provides an opportunity for an experienced and talented Planner to manage the assessment of major development applications using a facilitative management approach. It also involves a range of other duties including project management of developments through the certification and statement of compliance process, involvement in managing developer contributions and working through implementation issues associated with growth area planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess major planning applications particularly in the growth areas, using a facilitative project management approach.
- Assist in the development and ongoing administration of Council’s developer contributions system to ensure that nominated infrastructure is provided in a timely manner in accordance with approved Infrastructure and Developer Contributions Plans.
- Prepare reports and documentation in relation to planning permit applications.
- Assist in the review of existing Precinct Structure Plans and Development Contribution Plans.
- Build strong and co-operative relationships to enable facilitation of appropriate major developments.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- A Tertiary qualification in town planning or related discipline with substantial planning experience, preferably in a local government environment.
- Substantial experience and skills in the assessment of large and complex development proposals to achieve quality outcomes.
- Exposure to and familiarity with government legislation affecting urban development.
- Experience in growth area planning, including the implementation of Infrastructure and Development Contributions Plans.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
