The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Community Care and Active Living service unit as a Community Bus Driver. This role reports to the Community Transport Supervisor and is responsible for safely transporting eligible clients and service participants across the municipality of Melton. The Community Bus Driver assists in the provision of safe, reliable transportation for Melton City Council residents with limited mobility, age-related needs, or frailty.
You will work within a dynamic team environment delivering door-to-door transport for eligible clients within service transfer schedules as well as ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of the buses. With a high focus on customer service and empathy, you will help provide comfort, safety, and a welcoming environment for every passenger.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport clients to and from a range of locations including, Social Support activity spaces, and health providers, in line with Council policy and procedures.
- Provide a person centred, flexible and responsive door-to-door transport service.
- Provide feedback on the health and wellbeing of clients and report circumstances where clients may be ‘at risk’ or requiring additional support.
- Enable bus passengers to board and alight safely, assisting clients as required including securing shopping and mobility aids.
- Provide First Aid as required and during emergencies.
- Regularly receive and respond to service changes delivered via phone or face to face.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Current valid Full Victorian Drivers Licence entitling you to drive a bus seating no more than 12 passengers.
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or related discipline with relevant experience desirable.
- Safe driving record.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with and transporting older people, people with dementia, people with a disability and their carers.
- Current Level 2 First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
