The Opportunity
Are you seeking a rewarding role where you can apply your communication skills to support environmental change? We are recruiting for the Green Living Officer position. Reporting to the Coordinator Sustainability & Climate Change, this role will deliver a range of educational programs and communications campaigns to increase knowledge and capacity of the Melton community, staff and stakeholders.
We are looking for someone who is a passionate advocate for the environment, a skilled communicator and an excellent collaborator. This role is permanent and ongoing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor a community engagement and education plan.
- Plan and deliver community events and festivals to engage and educate residents on environmental issues.
- Raise awareness of Council’s environmental initiatives using social media and newsletters, create digital engagement materials, and provide guidance on social media strategies for maximum reach.
- Develop a suite of publications and engagement products to support the communication of key messages/campaigns.
- Collaborate with schools, education facilities and community organisations to support program delivery.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in a technical area relating to Environment, Sustainability, Community Engagement or Marketing/Communications with substantial experience, or formal qualifications with proven experience in a similar role.
- Experience and knowledge in community education, program management and behaviour change principles.
- Sound understanding of environmental sustainability theory and practice.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
