About the role
The Project Manager sits within Council’s Building Project’s business unit, a specialist project management team responsible for the construction of new and the upgrade of existing Council building assets, as directed by the annual Capital Works Program. In addition, the unit is also instrumental in providing design, construction, buildability and planning advice on proposed future projects.
Within this function, the Project Manager is required to provide support and work with Senior Project Managers to plan and monitor a program of capital projects, including delivery of some projects from conception through to completion.
The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate a proactive approach to the development and improvement of strategic plans for Council’s building assets, and to exercise technical expertise in the field of building projects to deliver on key organisational outcomes.
Skills and experience required to perform this role
- Experience in the building and construction industry, with previous experience in the management of construction (building) projects.
- Experience in the preparation and monitoring of cost plans and budgets is essential.
- High level project management, administrative, planning, relevant IT and organisational skills with demonstrated experience in leading and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills, demonstrating skill in writing concise and clear reports, with an ability to inform and brief stakeholders and management efficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to actively contribute to a strong, collaborative, and positive team culture.
- Completion of a degree or diploma course in the applicable field or discipline.
- A current Victorian Drivers’ Licence is essential.
