ABOUT THE ROLE
Due to the Defense Australia requirements we can only accept Australian Citizens for this position.
We are seeking a Work Health and Safety and Compliance Officer to join our Safety team based from our Defense contract some travel required.
Menzies employs over 4,000 employees today and turns over almost $300 million annually with operations across all major Australian cities and regional centres. Menzies is one of the largest privately owned providers of cleaning and related property services in Australia – we have been operating since 1969.
This position will see the successful applicant reporting dually to the Defense Contract Operations Manager and the National Safety Manager. This role involves a wide range of risk management, insurance and compliance activities.
This position will be based within our Defense contract located at Holsworthy, CBD and Richmond however you occasionally be required to work from our Kensington office.
You will form part of the greater WHS team and be involved in project management and other contracts when required.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice and leadership to ensure Menzies comply with all relevant WHS legislative requirements, Codes of Practice’s and statutory obligations
- Provide effective support to line managers to ensure the success of their safety management efforts
- Develop and conduct training for Contract Managers and Front Line Staff on hazard identification, incident investigations, reporting requirements, and workplace inspections
- Report and investigate incidents, injuries and hazards and implement agreed control measures.
Experience and Qualifications
- 2-3 years’ experience working in Work health and Safety
- Cert IV Work health and Safety or equivalent (Diploma Desirable)
- Cert IV in TAE
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a coaching and mentoring style to educate and share knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to shape/change behavioural patterns, flaws and work ethics
- A self-starter who achieves key targets through the effective organisation, motivation and development of people with a commitment to safe work practices and continual improvement
- Extensive experience and proven capabilities to manage risk/safety across a large organisation and work across organisational boundaries to achieve safety critical outcomes
- Applicants MUST be Australian Permanent Residents and be eligible to obtain a Defence security clearance, Working with Children Check and Federal Police Check
