About the role
An exciting opportunity has come up to join the Waste Services Unit within the City Services Branch, leading our in-house waste collection team and fleet. This is temporary backfill role whilst a recruitment campaign is undertaken to permanently fill the role.
This Coordinator Waste Operations is a key leadership role and will work as part of a team to lead Council's in-house waste operations ensuring Council's waste-related services are delivered to a high standard across the municipality and providing a high level of service. This role consist of the overall leadership of two direct reports and is responsible for 22 driver/operators side loader staff.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about the coordinator of an essential service highly valued by the community and delivering a positive customer experience both internally and externally
- Knowledge and understanding of waste management operations or similar field
- Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
- A team player
- Understanding of councils’ core IT systems and their functions
- Solution-focused
- A leader of frontline staff responsible for services including kerbside waste, and some public realm waste collection services, with a strong focus on health and wellbeing and performance and development
