About the role

 

Merri-bek Maternal and Child Health (M&CH) is a free voluntary service available to families with babies, toddler and preschoolers up to 5 years of age in the Merri-bek area. The service is staffed by qualified M&CH nurses who provide evidence-based health information, guidance, community connections and referrals to help families look after babies and children. The service operates across 16 centres. The MCH services provide 10 Key Ages & Stages consultations and New Parent Groups.  Additionally, parents can access additional appointments as needed and specialist clinics to support with breastfeeding and sleep and settling.

 

Immunisations Services provide vaccinations for all children and eligible adults as recommended by the National Immunisation Program. We run immunisation sessions at locations around Merri-bek, and also visit secondary schools for the school immunisation program.

The MCH & Immunisation Administration team consists of staff who work closely with the MCH Coordinators and Immunisation & MCH nurses and report directly to the Unit Manager. This casual Administrative Officer role is an integral part of our success, providing high level business administration and support functions with a strong focus on customer service excellence to support operations. You will enjoy collaborating with colleagues to support efficient customer response and supporting our essential service to the community. A typical day includes fielding phone calls, making and rescheduling appointments, processing orders, calendar maintenance and liaising with working with our dedicated M&CH and immunisation nurses. You’ll find yourself ordering supplies, processing invoices, travelling to centres or community immunisation sessions and managing deliveries and maintenance of stock. There are also opportunities to undertake projects within the team.

 

 

 Skills and experience require to perform the role

 

  • Sound time management skills and knowledge of administrative systems.
  • Customer service skills
  • Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel,
  • Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Working With Children Check

 

Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles and operations of Local Government Immunisation programs and the Maternal and Child Health Service
  • Knowledge of the CDIS Database
  • Knowledge of the National Immunisation Program
  • Basic skills in producing statistical reports
