Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to work within the Risk Team as their new Safety Officer.
- Permanent Full-Time – 35 hours per week
- Location - Moree
- Attractive Salary ranging from $1,519.60 up to $1,747.50 (PLUS superannuation) depending on qualifications and experience

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Safety Officer will be required to assist with ensuring the safe and compliant operations of the organisation. The position will be mostly field-based, monitoring WHS compliance and providing technical advice, including:
- Promoting risk awareness and a culture of safety throughout the workforce;
- Actively supporting teams in the implementation of systems required to achieve safety compliance;
- Providing safety advice and guidance.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.

ABOUT YOU
Council is looking for someone who has the following qualities, experience and/or qualifications:
- Certificate IV Work Health and Safety or similar or equivalent relevant experience.
- Contemporary knowledge and experience in the delivery of WHS Systems.
- Experience in undertaking reviews, including inspections and safety observations.
- An understanding and experience in undertaking WHS investigations.
- Ability to provide timely advice to workers in relation to WHS best practice and legislative compliance.
- Demonstrated numeracy, written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- High level of interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to understand written and verbal instructions, communicate effectively and present a customer focused approach to Council staff, contractors and the public.
- Experience in the review and administration of safety documentation, e.g., Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Safe Work Procedures.
- Hold a WHS General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Hold a Class C Drivers licence.
