Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to work within the Regional Activation Unit (RAU) team as the Events Manager to drive a signature event for Moree Plains!

  • Permanent Full-Time – 35 hours per week

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Events Manager will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development of a signature event that aims to increase visitations, economic benefits and community social benefits to the Moree Plains Community.
  • Building and managing relationships with event-attracting bodies, organisers and key stakeholders to support the effective planning and delivery of events, festivals and conferences including consideration of risk management, insurance, permits, staffing/volunteers, work health and safety, publicity, resource allocation and contractual and financial management.
  • Partner with Council's Communications Team to promote major public events through Council's various communication platforms e.g. website and social media where appropriate.
  • Undertake a range of tasks integral to the successful delivery of events and place activation initiatives in the Moree Memorial Hall including but not limited to ticket and merchandise sales, performer and entertainment.

ABOUT YOU

Council is looking for someone who has the following qualities, experience and/or qualifications: 

  • Diploma in Events Management or a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in event planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation as well as experience in managing event budgets.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, with the ability to exercise judgment when required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise excellent verbal communication skills and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to positively respond to a wide range of people and present in a professional and courteous manner with proven ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proven excellence in internal and external customer service focus, including provision of requested information and follow-through on request.
  • Availability to undertake regular work outside of normal hours including after-hours and weekends.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail in relation to spelling, grammar, punctuation and consistency when completing final edits of documents.
  • Pre-production skills including lighting design and stage plans.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence.
